GRP – plastic gratings

GRP-PLASTIC GRATINGS BY PROMETALL

GRP consists of glass fibres and polyester resins. The former ones, forming the structural part, ensure the product’s mechanical resistance; the latter are chemically durable and combine the various fibres; this allows stress distribution. ProMetall’s gratings and structures are produced with specially patented technologies that are mainly based on the concept of injection moulding (RTM) or pultrusion.

ADVANTAGES OF GRP-PLASTIC GRATINGS

  • High resistance to chemical and atmospheric charges
  • Good ratio mechanical resistance/weight
  • No softening in case of exposure to heat
  • Lightness
  • Dimensional stability
  • Good dielectric properties
  • Simple installation
  • ProMetall GRP-plastic gratings are certified in accordance with UNI EN ISO 9142, due to their durability, without loss of mechanical performance, after the cyclical issuance of heat/bold and moisture.
  • ProMetall GRP-plastic gratings have also passed the ageing resistance test after the cyclical exposure to UV-rays, in accordance with ASTM G154.
  • Upon express request, we also deliver a self-extinguishing version of the GRP-plastic gratings in accordance with EN13501, ASTM E84, ASTM D635, DIN 4102, NFP 92-507.
  • ProMetall GRP-plastic gratings are also available with anti-slip, covered surface (R10-V10 certified)
  • ProMetall products do not require any maintenance – the cancellation of operating costs makes them really cheap!

ProMetall gratings are also available with anti-slip surface, in accordance with DIN E 51130 (provisions concerning slip resistance), in the below versions:

  • with permanently slip-resistant surface “Meniscus”-type (R13-V10 certified)
  • with permanently slip-resistant quartz surface (R13-V4 certified)

TECHNICAL DESIGN

ProMetall GRP-plastic gratings are produced in many different sizes, by means of injection moulding technology, to provide a quick solution for various system issues. They are produced in monolithic panels and are simple and fast to install. ProMetall GRP-plastic gratings are mainly required for runways, treads, gutter, and shaft covers, electric cover panels and steps. Our GRP-plastic gratings have a high safety factor and were developed under strict controls, in accordance with DIN 25437-3.

COMPARISON METAL GRATINGS / GRP-PLASTIC GRATINGS

Metal gratings are definitely the best-known gratings. For cost reasons, they are used a lot but – compared with GRP-plastic gratings – there are some negative aspects to be considered.

Disadvantages of metal gratings:

  • High cutting / shaping costs
  • Painting costs
  • High installation costs
  • Costs regarding safety, as their surfaces are not slip-resistant, like GRP-plastic gratings
  • Maintenance costs due to bad chemical resistance and low weather resistance
  • High shipping costs due to higher material weight
  • High earthing costs
  • Pollution costs due to release of dangerous substances

Advantages of GRP-gratings:

  • Higher material quality
  • Better cost/use ratio
  • GRP-gratings can be produced in many sizes
  • We can deliver GRP-gratings with a range of thermosetting resins, which allows a variety of applications (runways, treads, electric protection isolation, steps, etc.) and ensures a high degree of resistance to aggressive chemicals and weather conditions, form stability and particularly good dielectric properties.
